Berlin-based duo And / In (Heather Frasch and Koen Nutters) will be joined by Seth Cluett in a trio, drawing from their sound-making experiments in the Anechoic Chamber at Nokia Bell Labs.

And / In is a Berlin-based duo of Heather Frasch and Koen Nutters creating music with objects, text, and vibrations. Shadows and light, audible and inaudible movement, air, liquids, and solids. They conduct musical investigations of objects, bodies, agents, sounds, actions, text and silence. Objects and/in silence. Text and/in sound. Reading and/in actions. A spatio-vibrational theater workshop approaching the meaning and the life of objects and humans together.

 

Heather Frasch, is a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic concert music, performer/composer (flute, laptop/electronics & sonic objects), and creator of interactive sound installations and digital instruments. She co-runs mumei publishing which publishes online journals and monographs that concern text-sound perceptions. She is co-director of vibrant matter, who curate events, investigating the blurred

boundaries between text/object and sound. Both projects champion experimental interdisciplinary programming, commissioning new works to support underrepresented voices build international connections.

 

Koen Nutters is a Dutch freelance musician, composer, writer, and concert organizer, mostly working in the field of experimental music, using text-scores, structured improvisation and more conceptual operations to create a wide variety of different music, performances, texts and events.

Seth Cluett is a composer, visual artist, and writer. With work ranging from photography and drawing to installation, performance, and critical writing, his “subtle…seductive, immersive” (Artforum) sound work has been characterized as “rigorously focused and full of detail” (e/i) and “dramatic, powerful, and at one with nature” (The Wire). The recipient of grants from Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Fund and Meet the Composer, his work has been presented internationally at venues such as The Whitney Museum, MoMA/PS1, Moving Image Art Fair, CONTEXT Art Miami, GRM, and STEIM.

 

His work is documented on Line, Sedimental, Notice, and Winds Measure recordings. Cluett is the Assistant Director of the Computer Music Center and Sound Art Program at Columbia University and is Artist-in-Residence with Experiments in Art and Technology at Nokia Bell Labs.

 

He’s part of operations such as: DNK Ensemble, The Pitch, Post-Music, And / In, The Poplar Trio, and past events like: Konzert Minimal, The New Silence, and TAPE THAT. He spends most of his time in Amsterdam and Berlin and likes to play the occasional record in his favorite night time haunts.
