The Armory Show
FOCUS | Pier 90
Booth F10
March 7-10, 2019
The gallery's debut appearance in the Armory will feature new hand-sculpted works on paper by Nate Lewis.
Nate Lewis (b. 1985) is based in Washington, DC and New York City. Lewis works almost exclusively with paper and ink. Combining elements of drawing, portrait photography, etching, and embroidery, his large-scale “paper sculptures” were conceived while the artist was working as a critical care nurse, making his first art with a scalpel on EKG paper. Lewis treats paper like an organism, sculpting patterns and textures akin to anatomical structures and cellular tissue.
Nate Lewis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. Most recently, his work has been exhibited at EXPO Chicago, New York’s 1:54 Art Fair, and Spring/Break Art Show. He has held artist residencies at Pioneer Works and Dieu Donne. In 2017, Lewis lectured at Yale University and Pennsylvania College of Art & Design.
