About the Event
"New Drift Studies", where Just Intonation meets Analog Oscillators:
We'll spend the day studying intervals, chords and scales in various JI tunings (as well as temperaments, for comparison), listening to both the stability (or lack thereof) of the oscillators as well as their timbral qualities.
We'll use control voltages to build scales, and participants may create melodies using a keyboard. These melodies can be recorded via MIDI and then listened to in various tunings.
“Vintage” oscillators will be on hand, along with some newer models, and participants are encouraged to bring their own (please contact us beforehand as we’ll need to keep track of space).
The workshop from 12-6 will be followed by a public presentation at 8pm, contents of which TBD.
